Try to make it bearable by pranking them.
Pull something out of my bag to focus on until it is time to leave.

Make it through the day with some awkward conversation.
Now that motion gaming exists, there's lots of dancing involved.
Start bringing up what the family will do for the next holiday.
Umm...hang out? Catch up? It's not as bad as you make it out to be, asshole.
So at these family functions. How long to you tend to stay?
It varies.
I am usually one of the final people to leave.
I typically stay until after the gathering is over...most of the time staying overnight and saying goodbye the next morning or even later.
I usually host the gathering sooooo....
I don't go to a whole lot of family gatherings...
I typically am in and out throughout the day.
I stopped going to those things a long time ago.

I like the classic image of the guy with the lampost.
I can enjoy a little bit of everything about it! Dancing, music, sets, acting....
The acting style of that day was pretty awesome. It didn't focus on realism and was cool with being a bit overstated.
The songs were okay I guess.
I may not like it, but I'm humming that damn song within minutes of hearing it.
The choreography had a great classic style to it.
Uh...the umbrella is a cool prop? I like cool props I guess.

They are pretty much nothing like me...
Well they dress like me I guess, but that's where the similarities end.

We share a lot of the same interests! So yeah, we are pretty similar...but we are still very much our own people.
We are pretty similar...almost disturbingly so, but our skills vary slightly.

Most people see it as the chance to get up and go do something else for a minute.

Things go on as normal.
People see me as the change the party needed! Woooo!
Kids get really happy...everyone else leaves.

When you screw up...
People either don't notice or don't care.
Things are so bad they make up new rules...
The next holiday...kinda ruined.
Things seem to get better! Apparently me screwing up is hilarious.
It kinda starts a chain reaction of everyone around me screwing up.
...people get hurt...But other than that everything stays the same.
